Artist meticulously hand painted 3 1/4″ tall glass spice jars with detailed images of herb names, plants, history, health benefits and text. Acrylic paints on glass sprayed with a clear varnish for a glossy finish. Attached lock top lids with rubber seals. Tough and durable jars for their size.
Carom, also known as Ajwain, is hand painted in bright green letters against a black background. Detailed leaves of the herb and its fruits are rendered against a white background. A whimsical little character smiling with text above, saying: “Cures ear and tummy aches”, depicts one of the medicinal uses of the spice. A plate of Lacha Paratha is shown which is a flat bread of India. A bejeweled red elephant head is above against a dark blue back ground. Text on another side, describes the taste of Carom.
Coriander is in brilliant green lettering against a black background creating a high contrast. The leaves, roots and fruits are depicted on another section against a white background. An English colony settler with an ax depicts that the herb was cultivated in 1670. Ancient Egyptians put the spice in King Tutankhamen’s tomb and was used by people in the Bronze Age. Text describes the flavor of Coriander which is like an orange, warm and spicy.
Mustard Seed is spelled out in bold green letters against a black background. The flowers, dried powder form and grains are hand painted against a white background. A dish of salmon with a Mustard Seed glaze is rendered against a deep blue background. A character below, in a blue T shirt with a “Super” S is smiling because the herb stimulates hair growth, eases muscle and joint pain and aides in weight loss. Against a bright orange background, is text depicting how a tiny Mustard Seed can grow to an enormous tree. A flowering tree image is above and to the left of the text.
Saffron is hand painted in bright green letters against a black background. The purple crocus and two forms of the dried spice are rendered against a white background. Text illuminates that the herb contains vitamin B and can promote a good mood. A section depicts a fresco from the Bronze Age called “Saffron Gatherers” and shows an ancient using Saffron to dye cloth.
The decorative gift box has a delightful snowman which is on all four sides, the bottom and on the lid. The snowman also completely covers the inside of the box and lid. It is everywhere!
HAND CLEAN ONLY the inside of the glass jars with a little soap on a damp cloth. Do not put glass jars in the dishwasher as the rubber seals will melt and compromise the hand painted images.
