Description

Artist meticulously hand painted 2″ x 2″ glass cube with elaborate images of 4 geisha women in colorful backgrounds. Geisha derives from Gei (“art”) and Sha (“person”). Woman of art. Glass cube is lightweight, free standing and can be hung as an ornament year round. Acrylic paints on glass sprayed with a clear varnish for a glossy finish. Gift box included.

Against a light turquoise background is a beautiful geisha in oshiroi makeup (white face). She wears an intricately detailed kimono of reds, blues and whites. Her raven hair is adorned with hair combs and kanzashi (hair pins). Her red lips and black liner are a high contrast with her white face. The next geisha is kneeling with one of her tabi (split toed socks) and geta (wooden sandals) showing from beneath her red kimono. Her obi is tied in the “taiko” style (drum). A lavender background compliments the butterfly painted behind her. Above, is a colorful butterfly charm attached to the glass cube top.

A bright red kimono with decorative accents looks beautiful on this geisha holding a decorative fan. Her raven hair is adorned with dangling hair combs in the Sakko hairstyle. A rich blue background accentuates the red kimono and accouterments. A geisha preparing tea is kneeling so elegantly. Her kimono is a light turquoise and the yellow obi is tied in the “darari” (dangling) style. A deep rich ultramarine covers the background which compliments the yellow ochre in her obi.

The glass cube is hand decorated with beautiful charms and beads. A shiny, bright red tear drop gem in a gold setting dangles next to a geisha which elevates her elegance. A large white “pearl” round bead accentuates the heavily made up maiko (geisha type). Two gold hand charms with sparkly ring on finger and bracelets and a butterfly charm adorn the glass cube. A red satin ribbon bow is surrounded by shiny beads of various size, shape and color. A black satin ribbon hanger is attached.
