Description

Colorful images, text, uses, fun facts, history and folklore are hand painted around the 6″ circumferences of FOUR glass spice jars that are each 3 1/4″ tall. Attached lock top lids with rubber seals. Tough and durable jars for their size. Acrylic paints on glass sprayed with a clear varnish for a glossy finish.

Marjoram is rendered in bright green letters against a black background. Detailed leaves of the herb are also in green against a white background. A serious singer is drinking a hot cup of tea with the herb because it preserves the vocal chords. In ancient Egypt, marjoram was believed to be a symbol of happiness. A character in detailed Egyptian accouterments is depicted along with “symbol of happiness” text. A little beer mug is rendered with text: “used in beer before hops”. For uses, “soups, stews, sauces and dressing” are painted against a rose background.

Cayenne is spelled out whimsically in bright green letters against a black background. The plant is rendered realistically with red peppers against a white background. Images of lemons and a bottle pouring out molasses are depicted as ingredients for using cayenne as a detox. A big heart character is being saved from a mugger by a huge red cayenne pepper against a bright yellow background. The caption: “can stop a heart attack”. Get it?

Sorrel is also in bright green letters and black background. Garden Sorrel and French Sorrel leaves are painted in detail against a white background. Images of two Middle Ages characters, Sorrel in soup and text describing the taste are hand painted around the 6″ circumference of the glass jar. There is text describing the health benefits of the herb.

Tarragon is hand painted in bright green letters against a black background for a high contrast. The leaves are detailed realistically and against a white background. Little images of a chicken, fish and lobster are displayed next to the words: “baste, sauce and soups”. The Greek Goddess Diana (Artemis) is rendered giving Chiron, the Centaur, a sprig of Tarragon. Text, hand painted in white against a blue background, is: “derived from dracunculus, “little dragon”.

HAND CLEAN ONLY the inside of the glass jars with a little soap on a damp cloth. Do not put glass jars in the dishwasher as the rubber seals will melt and compromise hand painted images.

A beautiful gift box with “Season’s Greetings” and colorful stockings is included for a lovely presentation and safe storage.
