Description

Whimsically hand painted 3 1/4″ tall glass spice jars with fun characters, facts, history, text, uses, benefits and myths. Attached lock top lids with rubber seals. Acrylic paints on glass sprayed with a clear varnish for a glossy finish. These are tough glass containers for their size.

The glass jar for Chia is hand painted with a little chia pet container against a blue background. Text displays benefits of “iron, fiber and niacin”. Bold, bright green letters spell out “Chia” against a black background. Above, is a mini smoothie glass in pretty blue against a salmon background. A detailed ancient Aztec character is painted against a rose background and below is a cup of pudding with Chia and “omega 3”. Leaves of the plant with purple flowers adorn the glass jar around a portion of the 6″ circumference.

Flax Seed is in bold green letters against a black background for a high contrast. Above, is a basket of sliced bread and “fiber” and below is a bowl of nutritious elements with Flax Seed. A warm red background makes the images pop. A couple of Ancients in the Dzudzuana cave are hanging out with tools which had evidence of Flax Seed in it 30,000 years ago. A detailed image shows Flax Seed capsules, flowers and seeds against a white background. There are two varieties of Flax Seed: brown and golden (linseed). Flax Seed was valued for its essential oil.

Ginger is hand painted in bright green letters against a black background. A little Middle Ages character looks down and surprised by a baahing lamb below. Ginger costs as much as the animals back then. Confucius and a Chinese candy box adorn the glass spice jar to depict the uses of Ginger. The wise guy ate ginger, supposedly, everyday due to its health benefits. The flowering plant is rendered against a white background with the rhizomes (roots) and leaves.

Nutmeg is being fought for by a boisterous sailor in action dueling assailants as the herb was valued for treating scurvy. Above, is “Nutmeg” in brilliant green letters against a black background. Above, is a ship on the sea in 1511 traveling to the Banda Islands to trade the spice. Nutmeg is the only herb with two separate spices from different parts of the plant. A detailed image against a white background displays the tree, fruits, leaves, mace, fruit and seed. A very smart little character with arms crossed shows the Brainiac benefit of Nutmeg.

Oh, so Savory is the herb spelled out in bold green letters against a black background. An inviting glass of Sangria is rendered with a luscious cup of herb butter below. A whimsical scene with a playful Satyr in fields of Savory depicts the herb’s folklore. The plant and dried leaves are rendered against a white background on a portion of the glass jar’s 6″ circumference.

Last, but not least, is Turmeric in bold green lettering against a black background. Above, against a red to yellow gradient, is a beautiful woman from India in a ceremonial garment in which Turmeric is used. Siddha medicine has used the herb for its health benefits for thousands of years. Not to be outdone, is Suryan, the sun god with an emblazoned bright yellow gold aura. Ancients offered the spice to the sun god. Against a white background, is the Turmeric flowering plant, roots and in dried form.

HAND CLEAN ONLY the inside of the glass jars with a little soap on a damp cloth. Do not put the glass jars in the dishwasher as the rubber seals will melt and compromise hand painted images.
